You know who’s whooping their competitors ass in building brand identity and brand integrity?  GROOVESHARK!  Ya, I might be up Groovesharks ass but it’s hard not to when they are doing so many things the right way.  Outside of them offering up powerful artist analytic data and delicately placing non obtrusive effective advertising, the brand they are building will raise them high above their competitors.  Grooveshark is doing an excellent job in building a tight knit community of dedicated  “sharks” (fans).

About a year ago, shortly after I began to hear the name “Grooveshark”, I was attending the Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans.  As I was waiting in line I saw a group of kids all wearing Grooveshark T-shirts.  I asked if they worked for GS and they replied, “No, we just love the service!”  WOW! What music service or music business are you willing to sport in your everyday wardrobe?  Facebook? Twitter?  Rdio? Spotify? Deezer? Vivo? Thinglink?  None of those seem cool enough to me.

Grooveshark is positioning itselfs to become a reliable and trusted taste-maker.  Did you go to any summer music festivals this year?  You probably saw Grooveshark.   Are you a fan of any of these bands…?

…Wait, I started listing all the bands that they have worked with, promoted, or are just pure fans of and it was ridiculous.  Just go check out their blog at http://blog.grooveshark.com/ and witness their depth for yourself.  These folks are pounding the streets hard, reaching one person at a time .  Out of all the business classes I slept through – one thing I do know: you build a company on trust, good relationships and an understanding of who’s around you (i.e.  – you listen).  Seems simple right?  Many are failing – not Grooveshark.  I salute you!

So I was asked at the Digital Content Summit in NYC this past week why as a consumer I love Grooveshark.  My answer: “The services and products that Grooveshark offers and that I use on a regular basis, makes sense to me.  They are something I can get behind and support.  I have pride in saying that I use Grooveshark to listen to and explore music.  I feel my over all interests and ideas fit with what they are trying to accomplish.  They get my eclectic taste and I appreciate their effort in trying to accomplish that.”
