Few bands have the opportunity to claim a whole region’s music scene as their own, but despite all the humility that keeps them from making such claims, a.k.a.:RUDIE has earned the right to do so. Nashville’s ska scene is theirs.
After 18 years creating roots ska and reggae music in the heart of Music City, USA, Rob, Mark, Kevin, David, Robert, Joey and Shane are still recording, playing and not touring. In fact, they credit their lack of touring for their longevity.
They are a truly important pillar of positive, influential and entertaining music; Sinizine.net was privileged to sit down with Rob (keyboards, vocals), Kevin (guitars, vocals) and Shane (guitar) in the band’s studio in the top part of Kevin’s east Nashville home to discuss their longevity, influences, Nashville’s music scene and much more.
