Old Man Markley Interview

by Dave Sharp on Feb 16th, 2011

Its been said: Old Man Markley is to bluegrass what the Dropkick Murphys are to traditional Irish/Celtic tunes.  That’s fair, but do they sound like that?  Hell no. They sound like Johnny, Annie, Aaron, Joey, Katie, Ryan, John and Alex created a band of their own.  They sounds like bluegrass enthusiasts and punk veterans signed a blood-pact over a fifth of Jack and never looked back.  They’re fun, memorable, unique and willing to talk about the diversity that formed with such an amalgam of musicians.

Sinizine.net sat down with the ladies of OMM: Katie Weed (fiddle) and Annie DeTemple (autoharp and vocals) to discuss influences, meeting and visiting the bluegrass convention in downtown Nashville.
