Another Chance to Help Save WRVU

by Dave Sharp on Jun 19th, 2011

The proponents of returning 91.1 WFCL (the all-classical affiliate of 90.3 WPLN) to 91.1 WRVU, Vanderbilt’s storied and popular radio station have been vocal that the fight is not over since the station changed formats and call letters on June 7.

According to the Save WRVU group, the frequency is only leased by WPLN while they raise the $3.35 million to cover the cost of the purchase.  There will be a public board meeting including the WPLN leadership, where WRVU supporters plan to be vocal.

“We urge every WRVU supporter to attend this board meeting that is open to the public,” read the statement from the Save WRVU group. It continued: “We Now is the time to get off your computer, stand up for what you believe in, and take action. Tell NPR, WPLN & WFCL that you want the frequency to be returned to the students at WRVU who started the station over 50 years ago.”

The meeting will be held at 630 Mainstream Dr. in Nashville. For directions by phone, you can call (615) 760-2903 or (877) 760-2903.
