Live & Reel present Deer Tick this month
by Dave Sharp on Jan 20th, 2012
On December 20, 2012, Live & Reel @ Reel Recording – the monthly music video series featuring high-quality video mixed with professional sound recording – presented a limited release of Diamond Rugs, a combo group featuring John McCauley and Rob Crowell of Deer Tick.
A month-to-date and to bring in 2012 on a high note, McCauley and Crowell are back again with tunes from their original outfit, Deer Tick, at www.liveandreel.com.
The quickly up-and-coming indie rockers, Deer Tick, will release two tracks in the “one take, one shot, no gimmicks” style of Live & Reel @ Reel Recording. The tracks – from their 2011 release Divine Providence – will be available on Friday, January 20, with a bonus track available to Live & Reel email subscribers.
“Doing a recording of a rock band in this acoustic setting gives the viewer an intimate look into what these musician’s are like when they’re off stage. John’s voice has all kinds of character that I really enjoyed getting on record,” said Mark Galup, Producer/Engineer at Reel Recording
It was great bringing Deer Tick in to do an L&R session with us. They were very easy to work with and I think that the recordings we got, along with the videos, are going to be something that their fans will really enjoy. They showcase the band in way that they aren’t often seen, which I think boosts their credibility as diverse and capable performers,” said Erik Thompson, Engineer at Reel Recording
Live & Reel sessions provide fans with an intimate experience and perspective of their favorite artists as they’re given the chance to showcase their talent by adapting to fit the one-take, one-shot, stripped-down process of the Live & Reel model. 320 kbps MP3s of each session will be available for free download.
The project is a partnership between Reel Recording, an independent recording studio in Berry Hill, and Sinizine.net. Live and Reel sessions have been featured on the Nashville Scene’s Nashville Cream, The Deli magazine and blogs across the U.S.
