Open Lot fundraiser for new space
by Dave Sharp on May 26th, 2011
You may have experienced or heard about the art, food, music and body painting extravaganza that was the Pancakes and Art Festival at the Open Lot earlier this year. It wasn’t long after that that the expansive art, live music and all-around creative space closed its doors, shook up its leadership and searched for a new location.
Well, on Saturday May 28, the new-look oversight board will celebrate the finding of a large warehouse space just up First Avenue South near the Hermitage Café and look to raise funds to secure the space long-term.
The event will be held at the Zombie Shop, a vintage motorbike shop and collective for all the Vespa, Moped, etc. enthusiasts. According to the Open Lot Music Committee, the fundraiser will be the final event at that location, as the building is forcibly being closed and ultimately bulldozed to accommodate the downtown convention center. This has not been confirmed by the Zombie Shop and the a new location or time frame has not been announced.
The entertainment is far from shabby as it is: Natural Child, Denney and the Jets, Nudity, The Cherry Blossoms and more. Beer and liquor bar will be available
Here’s how you can help Open Lot, see off the Zombie Shop as they endeavor to a new location and enjoy live music and art:

Thanks for your comment Ashlee. We’ve emailed you about some of these details, but have updated the tone to make clear that the Zombie Shop is not closing entirely, just the physical location. The address is changed too! Thanks for pointing that out.
