Two Nashville bands leap into new names

The Beat Officers and Modernhell are each no longer, but there’s no time for mourning as their new incarnations have big plans.

Modernhell’s is now Cove and the within 24 hours of the announcement had released an EP titled Black Sermons via their Band Camp here: http://covemusic.bandcamp.com/. Their reasoning has been relatively quiet, but they did offer this message to skeptics: via Facebook:

“And anyone who has a problem with the name change… http://knowyourmeme.com/i/000/052/812/original/Deal_with_it_dog_gif.gif?1275684729″

The former Beat Officers are now assuming the title of Soul Radics to represent a more traditional, mature and productive reggae/ska/rocksteady sound.  Case in point, the Beat Officers has zero published music to catalog; Soul Radics already have a few months of recording at the a.k.a.:RUDIE studios and have an LP planned for release soon.

The lineup is the same, but the activiy and enegery is expected to be pumped up; here’s what the band had to say:

“Recently evolved from The Beat Officers; we are a group of transplants that have come a long way since rehearsing in the storage shed (although, we still rehearse in the storage shed). We play traditional ska/reggae with a hard hitting twist. Our live performances are high energy and we want everybody to have a great time… So come dance or enjoy the music any way you do. But yeah, preferably dance!”

Also, at least on member has assumed a band-specific surname: Dani Radic.
