Cruel Hand - Lock & Key (Bridge 9 Records, 2010)

Lock & Key by Cruel Hand is like a digital time machine.  This album takes you back to the mid ’80s where metal abandoned all sense of order and was strictly concerned about being fast and in your face.  With songs like “Lock & Key”, “Labyrinth’” and “Rotations of Hurt”, your main priorities seem to switch from rocking out to feeling the need to drive fast and smash something.  Lyrically, the CD seems to deal with conquering our struggles.  Something that this band has done fairly well.  The lesser quality of production really appeals to the genre and audience.  It seems to give off more of an “underground” vibe, creating plenty of room for a strict cult following.  The CD itself is set at a perfect 10, explosive, tracks.  Each one leaving the listener wanting more, without the songs meshing together and becoming monotonous.  For those of you who thought that hardcore thrash died out in the ’90s, pick up this album.  This will reinstall any lost hope for thrash music.  The only thing you will be left wondering, is what they will come out with next.
