The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes (Single) (Victory Records, 2005)

I have a confession to make. I loved this CD before I even listened to it. Sorry, but I couldn’t help myself. There’s just something about the way that The Postal Service makes their way into my head, and I just cant shake it. Well, that’s not completely true. Their songs also create the compelling urge to get up out of my seat and shake it (literally).
So maybe the latest efforts of Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello (of Death Cab for Cutie and DNTEL fame, respectively) are not going to take the scene by storm the way Give Up did, after all, it does only tote one completely new track. Amongst the four tracks is the title track (which is also the new single), the newest track (“Be Still My Heart”) and two remixes of earlier songs; “Nothing Better” and again, “We Will Become Silhouettes.” Everything about this single, from the initial packaging, to the recording quality, to the way that Gibbard and Tamborello continually make their way out of the stereo and into the hearts of young boys and girls everywhere are sure to keep the buzz circulating about The Postal Service. If you haven’t experienced this latest craze yet, think something like Dashboard Confessional meets Joy Electric. Or better yet, don’t think that at all; just go buy their CD and make your own lame comparison.
